Every October, Trinity students write the International Benchmark Test (IBT), set and marked by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). It measures English, Mathematics and Reasoning at the end of each school phase, and compares our students with South African and international students who write the same tests.
Every result above both averages. Since we began testing in 2022, Trinity’s average has been higher than the South African and the international average in every grade and every subject tested.

IBT results are reported on a scale rather than as marks out of a total. The same scale runs across grades, so scores can be compared from Grade 3 through to Grade 9 and from one year to the next.
The South African average includes every South African student who wrote the same test that year. The international average includes every student worldwide who wrote it.
Trinity’s classes are small, so a single student has more effect on our average than in a large school. That’s why we publish four years of results, not just the latest.
Prospective parents are welcome to view the complete benchmark reports during a school visit, with our principal on hand to talk you through them.
